gt invitaional
I have a question newb, I signed up for the sep 14/15 but I notice $100 for gt invitational main , can some explain what this is

This is the main "money" GT Invitational Race. What they do is or should I say have done in the past is reclassify all the cars entered into 4 classes based on lap times from the weekend...and not your regular entered class. Everybody races together in a longer race and you are racing all the cars in your run class. New run class stickers are attached to each car and you are gridded by class. Prize money I beleive is paid out to the top 3 finishers in each class. The NASCC supplemental regulations hould have more information and spell out the process.

Below is the offical explanantion from the NASCC Supplemental regulations.

September 2013
Race Format

3 separate run heats, each of 30 minutes

Race Concept
The basic concept of this race is to take all registered participants and divide them into three or
four groups based on a weighted averaging of their qualifying times from the Saturday
qualifying session, and their race times in the WCMA points race, with consideration given to lap
times on Sunday, August 25 as well. The number of run groups will be determined based on
the number of entries, at the organizers discretion. Three separate race heats will be run for
the 3 or 4 groups.

Race organizers will determine the grouping of all cars.
All participants must set lap times during the Saturday session or they will not be permitted
to start the race. The Clerk of the Course and Steward may appoint another session for a
competitor as a qualifying session for exceptional circumstances only.

The four (4) groups will be announced at the Sunday morning Driver’s meeting. No protests to
grouping or grid position within 1 hour to the start of the first of the 3 GT Race heats will be

The race organizers will attempt to ensure that all groups are equally balanced with the similar
number of cars that have similar lap times. There will be no grouping of cars based on their
WCMA classification.

Competitors are required to qualify and compete on tires of the same basic type and
construction, for example if you qualify and race WCMA points races on DOT race tires, you
must run the GT race on the same tire type.

There is a 2.5% break out rule. Anyone who consistently posts lap times (three or more
laps) that are 2.5% faster than they qualified with will be assessed a one-lap penalty. This
penalty is at the discretion of the Steward and Clerk of the Course. Organizers reserve the right
to amend this rule if necessary, for example in case track conditions change between the
qualifying session and the race.

There may be some movement of cars into different groups in order to have a similar
number of cars in each group. This regrouping will be at the discretion of the Clerk of the
Course and Steward or race organizers.

The race organizers reserve the right to make any and all decisions for this race at their
discretion for any previously undescribed circumstances.

so does it count for Eurasia cup and wcma points or is it a separate

EdmMiata18 09-04-2013 01:54 AM

It is a Seperate race event. There still will be a WCMA points race during the weekend and all the other races will count for Eurasia Cup Points. The GT Invitational race will be on Sunday so make sure your car is still running!

All times are GMT. The time now is 02:27 PM.
