Default Castrol road course Sectors?

Where do you guys plant your markers for sector division? My Traqview software decided to put in 6 sectors with a split on basically ever straight bit of tarmac.

S1: T1,T2
S2: T3
S3: T4
S4: T5,T6
S5: T7,T8,T9,T10,T11
S6: T12,T13,T14

I was thinking of merging turns 3 and 4 together into 1 sector as that short straight doesn't really have a steady state straight acceleration.

I would suggest 3 and 4 together too. How you choose to do 3 effects how you will do 4 to a large extent ... Not absolutely but the combined time is easier to grasp and reproduce.

If your display can show you sector times during each lap, I would choose places that you can actually check them (this will probably mean a reduction in the total number of sectors.

Choose places where you will always be the same place and attitude on the road, this makes any theoretical best lap time more realistic.

I would suggest grouping the corners as a general speed...
1-2-3-4
5-6-7
8-9-10-11-12-13-14

T4 is a divider to me. Can plop it on the end or the start of the next section.

T5-6-7 are quicker corners and should let you know how the car (and driver) is responding to the three high speed corners.

T8 to T14 is all pretty slow and should help show the transitioning of the car's ability left to right and low speed grip.

But...we all have opinions.

I like Al's approach with 3 sectors. It's simpler and they group naturally together.
