Default Chumpcar Castrol 24

RE: CAR SELECTION (should have noted in topic)

And I draw your attention to the winning cars of the 2014 Western Chumpionship. Any of these make good NASA PTF race cars for double duty in NASCC/WCMA Road Races? or also a good NASCC/WCMA ice race car for triple duty?

http://www.mylaps.com/en/classification/3344561

1st. Datsun 240Z (was a meticulous machine - good luck)
2nd. 94 Miata (yes)
3rd. BMWE30 (yes)
4th. 94 Miata
5th. 88 mustang (yes?)
6th. 89 Volvo 740 Turbo
7th.

you get the idea...

The Rusty Hub has BY FAR the most in depth possible analysis of chumpcar/lemons in the country.

At the end of the day, what has been proven is that knowledge of a specific car and immaculate prep-work is ideal. And e30 BMWs lol.

With the limit of the rules chump has, power is key IMO.

A well prepped car is a must. Castrol is a track that in my mind will favour a well handling car. As much as I have a hard time to admit it....A Miata could be a very reliable, good package for a Chumpcar event at Castrol. However, we will be doing our best to prove my theory wrong. Really...we just have too many rotary parts laying around...

I think they key message to get out to people is that it's easy for a chumpcar to be a PTE or PTF car too. I'm hoping we can get some new racers from this event!

As long as safety prep also meets WCMA's safety prep requirements and the car isn't completely dented and beat up when it shows up for PTE/F races.

I think the best chance to see some more more cars will be for this year to go so well that ChumpCar comes back next year. With an established event in the books, and a whole year to prep, we could see people from outside the road racing community.

Anyone have thoughts on how to make that happen? Right now I'm hitting up some soloists to drive our escort.
