Fucking wicked investment in the downtown of this city. A new community rink in addition to this to offset the fucking waste of tax payers money that sprawl and services for sprawl is. This will be a catalyst for many other developments in the area and bring tens of thousands of people downtown 150-200 nights of the year.

Maybe we can get you another $250,000,000 overpass to get to your awesome south edmonton common quicker...

FUCK YES>

go complain about your pothole or something.

Depends, do you want surface, above grade, below or heated for there about ~25,000 spots already existing within a 5 block radius.

There will likely be around 300 UG for box holders and players etc, but no need to add more.

*keep in mind that REXALL and the EXPO combined have around 6000.
P.S. LRT

The logic puzzle I recognize is with sorting out who will benefit from a downtown arena and who will pay for it.
I'm a big fan of governments governing and investors investing. There's definately a place for using tax money to benefit the greater good (Read Jeffery Sachs' - The Price of Civilization), but the line between benefiting 'the people' and benefiting selfishly motivated individuals and corporations, becomes blurry to me.
There are strong opions both for and against this project and I don't know enough about the underlying principles to comment intelligently, except to say in business, money talks and BS walks. In government, all too often BS walks AND talks.

Similar to how the current arena has been a catalyst for further development around Northlands?

I've never been to a hockey game in my life, never even watched one on TV, so excuse my ignorance on this one, but what time do the games start? If people need to be downtown before 6pm, their chances of parking in any of those 25,000 spots is zero.

Not looking forward to this at all as I'll be one of the poor working stiffs trying to get out of downtown while everyone is flooding in to watch toothless frenchman chase a frozen piece of rubber around.
