That's a really good video from Spokane, Roger
Great too see a few familiar faces around Mission, really enjoyed the Sunday we were out.

That kind of video is a great sample, they've used what looks to be 2 or 3 camera's around the track with guys running them so they could pan and zoom through shots. Fixed GoPro cameras (if the # of hands aren't available at an event) would need a few extra cameras to get coverage. Then like was done in that video, mixed with some driver in-car video and light commentary, makes a fun watch

Thankfully these days with much cheaper online/cloud storage services, it greatly simplifies gathering driver videos after the event, or other spectators submitting track-side footage. Rather than the previous method of at the event gathering SD and Flash cards from folks and downloading them to hand back.

Great ideas, I'll continue to do some of my own thinking as well

I have an entire selection of awesome motivational qualifying music, including a few tracks that are a little too gay to mention here.

dead thread, but anyone seen these 5.8 tranmitters - plug right in to a gopro ...

http://www.getfpv.com/5-8ghz-light-2...r-gopro-3.html

hd resolution, no lag, and recievers are just as inexpensive as the transmitters. every car could have them, plus a bunch in various corners of the track, all transmitting to a bank of receivers and some real-time video mixing. perhaps even a big screen and commentary for spectators. or video goggles so kids can feel like they are in the race.

A little expensive but if it works this could be real interesting.

My only concern is when you have multiple tracked cars you can set the camera to track the closest or fastest but I am not sure how that would work on a race track.

Cool! Thanks for the find Radium.
I've sent an initial inquiry e-mail to the GetFPV vendor to see what they would suggest on the amateur/affordable end of the spectrum, initially focuses on just cameras around the track corners (not on cars) to maybe play around with. That would avoid dealing with vibration/durability issues while getting the ideas worked out.

Just to be able to have a cohesive corner to corner (ish) race recording to view live or post online after the fact would be a great start.

its the tech that all the drone and quadcopter kids are using, as wifi has insufficient bandwidth and range unless you want to pay big $. as a result it is currently seeing a lot of development and prices are dropping like a rock as china gets involved.
