Default 2010 Ice Racing discussion

I had no idea the season was coming up so quick. I need to get the Neon ready to go here. I finally bought a trailer, but my clutch is still effed on the Neon and I'll need to weld the exhaust back together.

Anyhow, here are the dates off the NASCC website.

Ice racing school Jan 15 & 16

Race 1: Jan 17
Race 2 & 3: Jan 23 & 24
Alternate dates: February 6 & 7
Race 4 & 5: February 20 & 21

Lac La Biche: Mar 6 & 7

Any and all information needed can be found on NASCC.

The ice racing school is actually a winter driving school aswell. You don't need to be a racer looking to get a license to take part. The school consists of a night of classroom instruction at the NASCC clubhouse complete with videos and everything. Then the following day you spend the whole day in your car on the track. Both running drills and driving on the same track that we will be racing on the following day. You will require winter snow / ice tires though, as the school is made up mostly of unstudded street cars the track usually becomes pretty polished.

It's unfortunate that you can't hit club meetings due to work Matt. We've been talking about ice racing for months.

I don't even have a car so you're doing better than me.

First and third Wednesday of the month at the clubhouse at 7:30 PM.

I agree - who needs a job anyhow!

Default feb 20 and 21?

i cant access the nascc site for some reason and i was wondering if there will be any more ice races before lac la biche. i heard that there was a plan in the works to make a second track at roys lake, but that was just a rumour. judging by the fact that roys "lake" is more of a dirt track now; im guessing that bolted tires probably wouldnt last too long making it a rubber on ice venue only?. i just finished making a set tires and was really hoping to try them out before going to lac la biche

The site is down due to a slight issue with the host that will hopefully be solved very soon. I was out plowing a new track at roys today, it looks like it should work for next weekend, if the sun doesn't destroy it this week.

but I don't have a car either... it will probably be at least another year before I'm able to put up the money for one as well.

I would love to come to one of the meetings though, even if just to get a better sense of what's out there... is the next meeting on the 21st? .... a few guys I just met in iRacing actually mentioned that I should check out this website...
